How to Become a YouTube Sensation

Famous YouTubers such as PewDiePie and Zoella have a huge fan base and a host of lucrative sponsorship deals with major brands. They earn millions from posting entertaining, informative, and often irreverent vlogs online. For anyone who loves to spend time online, it isn’t hard to think that posting YouTube videos is a sure-fire way to fame and fortune, but surely, it can’t be that easy, right?

Unfortunately, although people like JennaMarbles and KSI make it look incredibly easy, YouTube is not that easy to crack. It’s now the number two social networking site on the planet, second only to Facebook. There are around 300 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute – and yes, you did read that correctly!

Not surprisingly, with the YouTube audience watching 5 billion videos every single day, it isn’t easy to stand out in a very overcrowded marketplace. However, if you persevere, you will grow your subscriber list, and if the stars are aligned, you, too, could end up being a YouTube sensation.

Here are some hot tips from successful YouTube Vloggers.

Find a Niche

There are millions of people vlogging about Minecraft or beauty tips, so it won’t be easy to make inroads in either of these niches. Instead, be original and do it differently. Tech, movies, beauty, food and travel are all popular with a younger audience, but you still need to find a different angle if you want people to click on your videos.

Collaborate

Collaborate with other YouTubers to double your appeal. For example, if you are musically gifted, find a YouTuber who makes fun videos and create something awesome together. Once you have a decent audience, you can use a cover art maker to brand your music and promote it via your YouTube channel. Plenty of music stars had their big break on YouTube – you could be one of them!

Be Authentic

A media savvy audience can spot a fake a mile off. You need to be authentic if you want to build an audience. Be yourself, even if you assume nobody will be interested in the real you. Take Zoella, for example. Her USP is her ‘girl next door’ charm. In the case of PewDiePie, it is more his ‘I don’t care’ attitude that appeals to a younger audience.

Promote Your Channel

Use social media to promote your YouTube channel. Each time you post a video on YouTube, talk about it on Facebook and promote it on your other social channels. This is the key to building a subscriber list.

Be Consistent

Posting a video once in a blue moon is not the way to approach YouTube. Being consistent is the only way to be successful. Popular YouTubers upload videos regularly to feed audience demand.

Patience is a Virtue

Success won’t happen overnight. Be patient and stick with YouTube. As long as you bring something different to the table, your audience will grow. Remember, it took Zoella five years to reach the heady heights of YouTube fame and fortune and most popular YouTubers have been vlogging for many years.

Ignore the haters. Anyone can be a YouTube star if they put the effort in.
