The world of politics is full of inspirational women from the German chancellor Angela Merkel who won the Time Person of the Year accolade, to International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde. And Hillary Clinton has managed to somehow survive all of the abuse to provide us all with some timely advice on how to succeed in what’s perceived to be a man’s world.
And who could deny the powerful story of Malala Yousafzai who was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen for going to school, and went on to deliver endless inspiration to an entire generation of youngsters. The teenager manages to somehow do her school exams whilst acting as a global campaigner, and she truly shows us what can be achieved if we stay determined.
One thing that seems to mark out all inspirational women, is the way that they won’t let long odds get them down in their bid for success. A great example is the Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling. Despite having struggled as being an amateur writer for many years, and having suffered endless publisher rejections, she managed to hang on to her dream to become one of the most successful authors of recent years.
Even something as simple as video gaming can lend us a few inspirational tales. The Gamergate scandal showed us how a few determined women gamers managed to overcome some horrific online abuse to become competitive gaming champions.
