While most people are dreaming of their next vacation, there’s no question that actually travelling can be stressful. Getting from Point A to Point B is the worst part of travel, particularly when you’re in a new state or country and you don’t love the idea of relying on public transport.
That’s why you may want to rent a car and make all of these transport issues disappear. Here are a few reasons why you should rent a car for your next vacation:
It’s quick and convenient
When you have your own car ready to go, you can get ready and go whenever you’re ready. You don’t need to rely on unpredictable buses or trains to get you where you want to go. The same goes for hotel shuttles- incessantly dropping off and picking up other passengers can make an already long journey feel never-ending.
When you rent a car, you can simply arrive at the airport, grab the keys, sign the paperwork, and you’re free to do whatever you want. Maybe this means grabbing a burger and flopping down on your hotel bed for a snooze. Or maybe you’re more a get-out-and-immediately-see-the-sights kinda person. Either way, you get a level of flexibility that you just can’t achieve when you’re without wheels.
You can get off the “beaten path”
Let’s face it: Wherever you go, there’s a well-trodden tourist trail where you’re likely to run into the same people again and again as you see all the same sights. Renting a car allows you to discover different places and avoid the many tourists. You can explore the smaller towns and villages, get tips from locals and other travellers, and get a fuller picture of what a city or country is about.

If you’re travelling with one or more person, you can save a lot of money. Renting a car is much more cost-effective than all purchasing train or bus tickets- even when you add up tolls, insurance, and gas. Plus, road trips are much more fun. Do some math and see if it works out cheaper for you to have the freedom of your own wheels, and don’t forget all the transfers like Uber and taxi rides to and from the hotel and airport.

Need to stop for a snack or bathroom break? Feel like stretching your legs? Want to blast your music and sing along to Taylor Swift? Driving your own car allows you to travel in comfort, and avoid sitting hip-to-hip with strangers.
