Even though it is still winter, my thoughts are already turning to the summer. As you know I am a keen traveller, so I am really looking forward to getting away and enjoying a few days lounging on a far away beach.
I am already out there shopping for swimwear, and am pleased to report that there are some fantastic swimming costume, bikinis, swim dresses and tankinis available. It really does not matter what you are looking for I would say you should be able to find what you want, with ease.
Here are my favourite 2017swimwear and beachwear trends.
The blouson set is the star
Without a doubt, you are going to see a lot more blouson sets being worn on the beach, this year. These stylish swimming costumes perfect for travelling with a group of friends.
They consist of two parts. A vest top and traditional bikini bottoms.
Usually, the vest top is made of two different layers of fabric. The top layer is typically made of lightweight fabric, which is styled as a light, loose fitting vest top. Often the straps are also removable.
The top would look great worn during the day with a pair of shorts, or with jeans. You could easily wear it for an impromptu night out. Usually, the bottom layer consists of the type of stretchy material that a traditional swimming costume is made from. Because the fabric hugs your figure in the same way a swimming costume does, it has a slimming effect. You really can look great in a blouson set whether you wear it on or off the beach.
Swim dresses
This year, several retailers are also selling swim dresses. These are not quite as versatile a blouson set is, but they look very pretty and are comfortable to wear and swim in, so they should sell well.
Separates are back
Speaking of versatility, this year, several retailers have opted to offer consumers the chance to mix and match their swimwear. Many are selling bikini tops and bottoms separately. This is great because it allows you to choose styles that look good together, but still flatter your figure.
Highly patterned sarongs
Sarongs are also set to be very popular, for 2017. They are available in a wide array of fabrics, colours and patterns. This means that they will look good paired with virtually any swimming costume. You can also wear them during the day as an alternative to a skirt. It is also possible to wear them as a scarf for the journey to and from the airport, which of course means that they need not take up space in your suitcase.
Swimwear for the curvier figure
It is also nice to see more plus size swimwear becoming more easily available. As this article explains, women across the world are getting taller and the shape of their bodies is changing. Therefore, flattering fit and flare cuts, and swimming costumes with built in support are sure to sell well over the next 12 months.
So, if you are looking for something to wear around the pool or on the beach now is definitely the time to get out there and shop. You won’t be disappointed.
