Don’t get bored this holiday season

As the holiday season comes closer, many of us will have at least a few days away from work. While it can be easy to assume that these will be quickly filled, the truth is, if you’re the type to get bored over the holidays, you’re not alone.

With the cold weather forcing most of us to stay inside, if you’re worried about getting bored or not spending these holidays productively, here are a few things you can do to stay entertained:

Bet Online

There are so many odds comparison websites available, that if you’re serious about making some money while you’re away from work, you’ll find plenty of opportunities. Whether you like betting on sports or playing fun games, if you find you have some spare time and you’d like to earn some extra money, betting online is a great way to pad your income so you’ll have more money to spend on having fun over the holiday season.

Socialise

It’s easy to feel like you’re seeing too many people over the holiday season, but on the other hand, it’s also common to spend our free time at home watching Netflix and escaping the cold weather. We all have those friends and family members we don’t get to see over the holiday season, so now’s the time to send some Facebook messages or jump on Whatsapp and get in touch with those people you rarely get to see.

Catch up

How often does someone mention a great book or movie they’ve seen recently, or it seems like everyone is talking about a particular novel and you haven’t made time to read it? (Girl on the Train anyone?) if you’re like most people, you probably have a long list of books, movies, and TV shows you haven’t seen in a while, so take advantage of the cold weather, snuggle up with a blanket and some popcorn, and spend some quality time by yourself or with a friend.

Workout

Most people will easily add 10 pounds over the holiday season, with all the Christmas cookies, candy, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and all the booze throughout the month (along with New Year’s Eve). If you don’t want these pounds to stick for the next year, you’ll need to make sure you keep an eye on your intake and workout. For every glass of wine or beer, have a glass of water, and try to avoid drinking too much eggnog- the calories can easily get out of control.

While it’s normal to eat way too much over Thanksgiving, consider offsetting some of those calories with a Turkey Trot or another type of Thanksgiving run. You’ll build up an appetite and have more room for pumpkin pie.

Sure, it may be cold, but there’s no reason why you can’t drive to the gym and get a few sessions of weight training over the holidays. For those who don’t mind running in the cold, this is another great way to stay fit and prevent that weight from sticking.
